Manager Spotlight – Ryan Cary

Ryan Cary started working at Investment Auto as a senior in High School. He began by detailing cars for the dealership. After ten years of work and experience, Ryan has worked his way up the company. He is now the general manager of Investment Auto. We interviewed Ryan to learn more about his job and the Investment Auto environment. 

What is your official job title? 

General manager. 

How would you describe your team at Investment Auto?

I would describe our team as untraditional and laid-back. We are all family here, so it doesn’t feel as though anyone is competing. It is a very team-centered environment, and our goal is to make the customer feel welcome. At Investment Auto, the customer always comes first. We structure our business so our salesmen don’t pressure people into buying cars. This business strategy puts the customer in complete control. I truly feel lucky to work alongside a great team of people. 

What makes you passionate about your job?

There is always something new to learn. I’ve worked at Investment Auto for ten years and have expanded my knowledge on a multitude of things. Helping people is probably my favorite part of the job though. Oftentimes you get young adults in the dealership buying their first car. They are commonly unaware of factors like financing, credit, and interest rates. I feel a sense of responsibility to show young people how to set up their future when making a big purchase. I have seen a variety of people buying cars over the years. From college kids to families, getting to know people is one of the greatest parts of my job. 

What’s your favorite car?

This is the hardest question! Being in the car business I see so many cars, it’s difficult for me to choose just one! I can narrow it down to three. 

Favorite Pickup?

F150 is driving F150 platinum right now. 

Favorite Sports Car?

I love Teslas or any manual Sports car.

Favorite SUV?


Do you have any tips for buying a car?

Here are my top 2 tips.

  1. Hold a job for six months before making your purchase. 
  2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Most people don’t know how interest rates work or what it means to finance a car or save money for a down payment. Put money down. Save up 20% of what the car is. My parents were savers and they passed on a lot of their habits to me. I saved up my money and paid for my first four cars in cash. I financed a car for the first time in college. I’ve owned 20 cars since I was 16. Buying and selling cars is a hobby for me at this point!
